About Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan (officially the Kyrgyz Republic) is located in the north-east of Central Asia along Pamir-Alai Range in the south-west and the Tien-Shan Range in the north-east. The country borders with China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The total area of the country is 198.5 thousand sq. km. More than 90 percent of its territory is covered by mountain ranges.
Kyrgyzstan has proclaimed its independence on 31 August, 1991 (whereof this date is celebrated as the Independence Day).
According to the Constitution the state language is Kyrgyz (Cyrillic alphabet), whereas the official language is Russian.
