ABOUT Samarkand State Medical University, Uzbekistan
Samarkand State Medical University was established in 1930, is a public University by the decision of the Uzbekistan government, and has since become one of the leading medical higher education institutions in Central Asia. Prior to its establishment, the region lacked an independent medical higher education institution. The Samarkand Medical Institute is the first medical university in Central Asia.
There are 10 faculties in SSMU. Faculty of Medicine, founded in 1930, Faculty of Paediatrics, founded in 1963, Medical Pedagogy founded in 2005, Nursing founded in 2005, Dentistry, founded in 2009, Pharmacyy founded in 2009, Medical Prophylactics, Public Health and Medical Biology, founded in 2020, International Faculty of medical education, founded in 2009, Postgraduate Professional Training of Physicians, founded in 1981. Since 2020, the Institute has launched 6 joint educational programs Medicine. Paediatrics, Dentistry, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Management: Healthcare management.
In the departments of magistracy and clinical residency, specialists are trained in the following areas: obstetrics and gynaecology; therapy (by directions) - endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, pathobiology, narcology; otorhinolaryngology; ophthalmology; general oncology; surgery (by directions); anaesthesiology and resuscitation; traumatology and orthopaedics; forensic examination; paediatrics (by directions); paediatric surgery; dentistry (by directions); infectious diseases (by direction); paediatric neurology; functional and instrumental diagnostic methods (medical radiology); urology; neonatology; neurosurgery; dermatology.
At SSMU there is a clinic No. 1, designed for 375 beds, and a clinic No. 2, designed for 200 beds, equipped with the necessary and modern medical equipment. Clinical bases for students are also all medical and diagnostic institutions of the city of Samarkand, where in the future they undergo practical training. According to the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated April 1, 2022 "On the establishment of Samarkand State Medical University and further improvement of the system of personnel training in this area", the following were established: Research Institute of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Research Institute of Microbiology, Virology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases named after L. M. Isaev, Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, Specialized Scientific and Practical Center for Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation, Scientific Center for Immunology, Allergology and Human Genomics.
In Samarkand State Medical University there are 83 departments, including courses where 624 scientists and teachers conduct scientific and pedagogical activities. Of these, 85 are doctors of science, 265 are candidates of science.
The University has a high-level, experienced staff for tutoring the medical students. In addition, the University has well-informed and highly experienced faculty who guide the students not only in their studies but also provide valuable advice for their careers.
At present, there are 9 faculties in TMA; Faculty of medicine, Faculty of paediatrics, Faculty of medical pedagogy, Faculty of higher nursing, Faculty of dentistry, Faculty of pharmacy, Faculty of medical Prevention, Public Health and Medical Biology, International Faculty.
Academic programs: General Medicine, Paediatrics, Vocational education (medical practice), Graduate nursing, Dentistry, Medical Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical science, Traditional Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Management: Health Care Management. These faculties carry out their activities on the basis of 74 departments, 1190 classrooms equipped with modern computers and 75 multimedia classrooms.
This non-profit public higher education institution nestled in the city of Samarkand is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), and World Health Organization (WHO).

Admission requirements for Indian & overseas students
Getting admission to the medical university in Uzbekistan for Indian & overseas students through Sunrise Star Overseas Education Consultancy is quite easy & a systematic process. Following documents are required:
- Educational qualification- Aspirants must have scored 60% and above marks in their higher secondary exam from a recognized board.
- HSC pass percentage - Required 60% in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry & Biology and English as a compulsory subject.
- Having good command over the English language.
- Candidates should be above 17 years of age on, or before 31st December during the year of their admission process.
- Birth certificate.
- Migration certificate from school.
- NEET qualification- Students must have cleared the NEET exam with an eligible score of fifty percentile. The medical aspirants of the other countries have to check the examination norms and rules of their respective countries.
- Having a valid passport.
- Ten identical white background passport size photos (50 mm x 50 mm).

Documents required for student visa to study in Uzbekistan
Following set of original documents are required to apply for student visa:
- Valid travel passport with minimum validity of one year.
- Admission & invitation letter from the university.
- Birth certificate.
- School certificates.
- All school certificates, birth certificate & 4 set of passports copy to be duly apostle/notary attested.
- Medical insurance.
- Medical fitness certificate by the doctor.
- Medical report- Required medical test report of HIV & tuberculosis.
- Bank statement with minimum balance of USD 4000 or Rupees 3 lakhs.
- Ten identical white background passport size photos (50 mm x 50 mm).
- After completing the admission process, our consultancy will guide the students in obtaining a temporary residence permit. This permit is valid for six years and to be renewed on yearly basis.
- An HIV / AIDS and some infectious disease test will be done in Uzbek clinic, which is required for the residence permit.
Visa processing time
- The processing time of study visa of Uzbekistan takes 25-30 working days after submitting the visa application file to the embassy.
